I Am Giving You War This Xmas

A fake one!

Beginning 12AM (Pacific) on Friday, December 23 through Christmas Day at midnight (Pacific), you can download My Fake War for Kindle for FREE. But please read on!

If you have already bought a paperback, that's cool. Thanks. Think about downloading the free version anyway and lending it to a friend. If you've already read it and liked it, help spread the word because...

In 2012 ALL OF MY PROCEEDS from this book (digital and paperback) are being donated to the Dayton International Peace Museum.

Because it's been a really rough year. I've lost almost everything I had at this time last year and yet I still have a family I'm close to, a place to sleep, things to eat, a job, people who read my shit and find it vaguely entertaining, and I don't have to go to sleep wondering when the next bomb is going to hit. If you live in America and you have those things, you have it SO GOOD.

Be festive this holiday season. Give lots of people lots of hugs. Seriously!

Free Sex Weekend

If everything goes well, you should be able to enjoy a weekend of weird, creepy, uncomfortable, hardcore, super hot sex this weekend by downloading The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island for FREE. If the stellar cover art doesn't grab you, then surely this synopsis will:

There is a sex beast loose on Scurvy Island! Can this gang of wholesome young adults hunt down this heinous monster (and love!) in this beautiful tropical paradise?

This should begin at midnight Pacific time on Friday morning (really soon!) and run through midnight Sunday. I've had many people ask if I'm going to write any more of these. I want to do. I will want to even more depending on how many times it's downloaded.

50 Songs from 2011

Here's a Spotify playlist of 50 songs I found myself listening to and enjoying in 2011. Most of them were released/rereleased in 2011, also. I won't say they're the "best" songs of 2011. I'm sure there's a ton of stuff I forgot to put on there. It was hard keeping it to 50. It could have easily been 500. Listening to music is really important to me. I have a pretty dull day job but it allows me to listen to music all day and that's what keeps me sane. It was, in many ways, one of the shittiest years in a loooong time, so I'm very happy that so many artists are making such great music.

You should be able to listen to all 50 songs HERE

And here are Spotify links to a bunch of albums from 2011 I really like:

The Advisory Circle - As the Crow Flies
Africa Hitech - 93 Million Miles
Amon Tobin - ISAM
araabMUZIK - Electronic Dream
Battles - Gloss Drop
Buraka Som Sistema - Black Diamond
bvdub - Tribes At the Temple of Silence
Colin Stetson - New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges
Com Truise - Galactic Melt
Cults - Cults
Das Racist - Relax
David Lynch - Crazy Clown Time
Deerhoof - Deerhoof Vs. Evil
Eleven Tigers - Clouds Are Mountains
Grimes - Geidi Primes
Georgia Anne Muldrow - VWETO
James Blake - James Blake
Lanu - Her 12 Faces
Nicolas Jaar - Space Is Only Noise
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
Peaking Lights - 936
John Maus - We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves

Fuck Black Friday This Shit is Free Part 2

Happy Halloween!

Sunruined: Horror Stories is now available for a miserable 99 cents. This collection contains the following short stories:

The Jackthief
The Screaming Orchard
Glowers Point
Cruel Women with Whiplike Smiles
The Smoke of Samuel
Sad Clown, Kentucky

This is the second of three volumes containing most of the short horror stories I've written over the past several years. The third will be out around the first of 2012 and then they'll all three be released simultaneously in paperback around the middle of 2012.

Also, for a limited time, Jack and Mr. Grin is FREE for the Kindle (and all other platforms). Thanks to all the people who have already downloaded or purchased a copy. Your support is overwhelming. You've made one of the most awful years personally into one that wasn't crushingly disappointing writing-wise.

And I will be attending BizarroCon (in Portland, Oregon) this year. Check it out and, if it sounds like your thing, there's still time to sign up.

This will probably be my last post until the New Year. I might pop in with an end of the year music playlist but I'm off to edit the five books I have in the queue so you have something new to read next year. I will still be (relatively) active on Twitter and Facebook.

Brandon Duncan's Fuckness

Brandon Duncan has designed the covers for most of my books. He keeps me from looking like the amateurish slob that I actually am. I've received a lot of praise for these covers, as well as the ones I've commisioned for Grindhouse and Atlatl Press. After a couple of attmepts at designing my own covers, I decided to step very far away from the design element and, much like music, appreciate it from a distance. Brandon opens the closet door on his design process for my book, Fuckness and walks you through step by step. Read his blog and find out how he designs like a serial killer...

Boo-hoo. You're living all wrong.
My name is Andersen Prunty. I'm happiest while napping. I am a man with tennis shoes. They get older every time I put them on. This is how I deal with the pain of being alive. Now is our chance to deal with our pain together. You'll thank me later.

Love and euphoria,
Andersen :)

Horrorfind Weekend

I'll be in Gettysburg, PA, Labor Day weekend for Horrorfind. Last year was my first one of these and I had a really good time. A tentative list of the readings and author panels can be found on Brian Keene's website. Many thanks to Brian for organizing it. Within the Bizarro World section these are the authors reading and participating in a Q&A:

Jeff Burk
Gregory Hall
Eric Mays
William Pauley III
Jordan Krall
Nick Cato
and myself.

Last year we sold books afterward. I imagine it will be the same this year. If not, we will all be wandering around and will happily sign books for you. I will be bringing very few books. The only ones I can say I will probably have for sure are The Driver's Guide to Hitting Pedestrians and Morning is Dead. There is still plenty of time to order anything you might want signed from Amazon or your bookseller of choice.

Death Race 2011

I'm keeping all of my Kindle titles at 99 cents until the end of June. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you might be aware that I've made it a competition to see which book sells the best. It was too hard to keep updating people on all these various pages or seemed confusing to me if someone saw a random post that said, "The Sorrow King leads" so I've decided to consolidate things here. If you look to your right you will see a heading that says "Death Race 2011." I will periodically (at least once a day) update this list to show the books' standing. What will the winner get? Well, first, I'm going to think of this book highly. Every day, I'm going to look at it and think, "You're the winner," which will really mean something to the book. Also, whenever people ask me which of my books they should start with, I'll say, "Start with Book X, it's a winner."

Thanks to everyone who has picked up a copy or bought all the ones they didn't already have. It helps in ways you wouldn't believe.

For those who haven't, here's a link to a really big picture of my face and all of my titles on Amazon: CLICKY

And stay tuned, I should have a new book announcement coming for you soon!

All My Books at 99 Cents

It's a thousand and six degrees outside which means it must be summer. For a limited time, you can get ALL of my Kindle titles for just 99 cents each. This will be the last time for a long time that most of these titles are that cheap. If you've read one of my books and kind of liked it, now might be a good time to pick up the rest. Not all of them have flipped over to .99 cents yet, but they should within a day or so. Here are links to each one:

The Overwhelming Urge
Jack and Mr. Grin
The Beard
Morning is Dead
My Fake War
Slag Attack
The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island
The Sorrow King

Or you can click HERE

As always, thanks for reading. Have a good summer and please help spread the word about this.

Things, Free Books, Cheap Books

Bizarro Central has received a new burst of energy. You should check it out.

As part of the relaunch, they're offering free digicopies of Bradley Sands' Rico Slade Will Fucking Kill You and Cameron Pierce's Abortion Arcade.

Also, if you have a Kindle or possess the manual and visual dexterity to download the Kindle app for one of your electronic devices, here is a moderately self-serving list of really cheap titles for it:

Fuckness by me
The Sorrow King by me
The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island by me
A Life On Fire by Chris Bowsman
The Brothers Crunk by William Pauley III
Muscle Memory by Steve Lowe
The Egg Said Nothing by Caris O'Malley
Suicide Girls in the Afterlife by Gina Ranalli
Mother Puncher by Gina Ranalli
Wall of Kiss by Gina Ranalli

Saturday, May 14, 2011

I'll be at Mo*Con May 20-22. Anyone else going?

Also, the latest Grindhouse Press book is a first time novel by Chris Bowsman called A Life On Fire. My longtime cover designer, Brandon Duncan, did a book trailer for it. You can order the book on Amazon and as a cheap Kindle download.

Cheap Sex Beasts, Fuckness, and Sorrow Kings

I was going to design a book cover for "The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island" as an April Fool's joke and post the cover. My self-designed covers are universally not good. Inspired by all the terrible Photoshoppped covers on "paranormal romance" and "romantic suspense" titles available for the Kindle and those books' really high sales rankings, I decided it would be an even bigger joke to actually upload the thing to Amazon. So HERE IT IS. I'm not sure how long it will be there. The story originally appeared in the first Magazine of Bizarro Fiction so, if you own that, you can probably hold on to your 99 cents.

When I originally announced The Sorrow King some fifty years ago it was for an expensive limited edition hardcover. Naturally, because most people are broke, they balked at the price. Now it's available for 99 cents on the Kindle. It doesn't get much cheaper than that. It's also available as a paperback for around 12.95.

Also, Fuckness, a full-length novel I wrote a while ago, is available on Kindle for only 99 cents. This might also be a temporary thing. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing with it yet.

And if you haven't been following my serialized web novel, FILL THE GRAND CANYON AND LIVE FOREVER, you should! I've been updating it pretty regular on Monday mornings. I have the installments ready for the next 2 weeks and then it might go on a brief hiatus.

Greg Hall Interviewing Joe Lansdale

At last year's Horrorfind, Greg Hall had a chance to sit down and interview horror/suspense legend Joe R. Lansdale and turn The Funky Werepig into a visual show. Hat's off to Greg. He had me on the internet radio version of his show a couple of times and giving a relatively new author the same chance to be on the same show as people who have been around a lot longer--like Peter Straub, Thomas F. Monteleone, and Brian Keene--shows amazing support that a lot of writers don't get. Greg's also a writer. If you get the chance, check out his debut novel, At the End of Church Street. Also, if you haven't read any Lansdale and you're interested in bizarre horror, I'd recommend The Complete Drive-in.

Here's the first clip of their interview. There are 3 altogether. Enjoy!

Fill the Grand Canyon Installment 5 and 6

Installments 5 and 6 of Fill the Grand Canyon and Live Forever are now live! Normally it updates on Mondays but I goofed and uploaded Installment 6 on some random day so I decided to go ahead and upload Installment 5, too, (so it makes a little more sense). If you're one of the people who read this in its original incarnation back in November, these would be the first ones you haven't read.

Harmony Korine and Die Antwoord (Fuckness)

Harmony Korine + Die Antwoord = We Should All Watch This Together Right Now!

I just added fuckness to the blog title because apparently 17 times as many people click on something with the word "fuck" in the title. Also, if you want to download the digital version for 99 cents, I will not stop you.

Monday, March 14, 2011

Is available (digitally) for a low low 99 cents! This time I'm not trying to sell a billion. Only 2. Thanks for reading!

For Kindle

For everything else

Installment 3 of Fill the Grand Canyon and Live Forever

... is now live!

So far, we are at 192 page views and have stalled at 10 followers who are all great.

Probably Monday or Tuesday, I will have a surprise novel appearing in digital form for the Kindle (on Amazon) and on Smashwords. It's called Fuckness and it's 70-some thousand words long. It will be priced at an ultra-affordable .99 cents. Whether or not it appears in paperback will pretty much be determined by the interest it generates (or doesn't). This is an experiment in method. Also, it's a book I like quite a bit. It was my first really "serious" attempt at writing a book and liking it enough to try selling it to agents and editors. I wrote it at the end of the 20th century when I was in my early twenties. It's been rejected by nearly everyone and seriously considered by a lot of agents and editors. The final critique amounts to it being too weird for mainstream folks and too normal for bizarro folks. I have read it and edited it so many times, I have to publish it so I stop doing obsessing over it. So let me know what you think. I'm really starved for attention.

Installment 2

Installment 2 of Fill the Grand Canyon and Live Forever is now live.

Currently, it has 10 followers and around 150 pageviews. I'll continue posting these stats as they grow/decline mainly because I'm obsessed with statistical kinds of things.

I did not sell a billion copies of Zerostrata and, therefore, have to continue going to the dayjob. Actually, I probably only need to sell around 100,000 copies to take a year off work and focus on writing and promotion. I'll leave it at .99 cents for a few more days to make that happen. Thanks to those who have bought a copy. By the end of this year, I will have 9 or 10 books in print. Fill the Grand Canyon is basically my work-in-progress. Essentially, I'm writing it, running spell check, and reading through it once to make sure I haven't made any mistakes that are too stupid. At the end of this year, I will have nothing in the vault for the first time since being published. That's going to be a weird feeling.

A Billion Hearts Beating as One

So I need you to help me sell a billion copies of Zerostrata this weekend. It's only 99 cents for the Kindle. Thanks.

And here's a cover of a book that never happened:

Fill the Grand Canyon and Help Me Billionize

I'm tired of going to my day job so I'm trying to become a millionaire by Monday by selling at least a billion copies of the ebook of The Beard for 99 cents. I don't think this is at all unrealistic but so far I've only sold 2 copies (thanks to the two people who are helping me realize my dream).

Also, the first installment of Fill the Grand Canyon and Live Forever goes live tomorrow. It will update every Monday and run for ??? weeks. If you read the thing I was writing back in November for NaNoWriMo the first few installments will be hauntingly familiar (though slightly different). I'm always accepting blurbs for it so if you'd like your name attached to this sprawling project, feel free to submit your blurb in the comments section or to andersenprunty@yahoo.com. Having read it is not necessary. Please put "Blurb" or "Fuck you" or something in the subject so I don't delete it thinking it's spam.

And here's a picture of a cat. THE INTERNET LOVES CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloggels, Fangoria, and the Huffington Post

Recently Huffington Post writer Claudia Ricci mentioned The Beard on her blog, My Story Lives. You can read The Beard for free HERE and HERE, pay .99 cents for the Kindle version HERE, or buy the paperback HERE. Claudia's novel, Seeing Red, is the first novel to be serialized on the Huffington Post.

Speaking of serialized novels on blogs... Beginning February 28, the first installment of Fill the Grand Canyon and Live Forever will be live. If you clicked on that link you'll notice it's subtitled Boring and Pointless: Volume One. This might lead you to believe there will be a volume two. That will be predicated on interest. If it seems like people are reading it, then I'll probably carry it over into a volume two (but volume one will be completely stand alone). If there is the complete lack of interest that I suspect will accompany it, then there probably will not be a volume two or there will be a volume two but it will only be like a paragraph long and all the characters remaining alive after volume one will meet with violent and horrifying deaths or be given those "Soandso and Suchandsuch were later married and continue to live blah blah blah..." that so many really great movies have at the end just so the one or two readers it does pick up don't feel left out in the cold. And by the way, my negativity is not just me fishing for compliments. I have documented proof.

And, in review news, Fangoria recently did a good write up for The Sorrow King. The trade paperback will be available in April. You can pre-order signed copies of that from me. Or you can check the previous entry for links to order the limited or lettered editions if you are the type of person who likes to buy hardcovers.

The Sorrow King Lettered (Book Porno)

Here are some photos of The Sorrow King lettered edition sent to me by Larry Roberts at Cargo Cult Press. They should be shipping in a few weeks. It also includes a one-time printing of my novel The Storm. There are still copies of the limited and lettered left.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

The Funky Werepig

I'll be on The Funky Werepig this Friday at 9 PM with friend and fellow writer Nate Lambert. We'll probably talk about books, shovel fights, and our collaborative project, Greg Hall: A Novel. Tune in or call in. See you there.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Pre-order The Sorrow King

I'm currently taking pre-orders for The Sorrow King. All the copies will be signed and personalized (if you specify). They'll also come with a handful of spiffy Grindhouse stickers and maybe even another book. Also, if you you pre-order it, you'll probably get it a couple of months before it's available on Amazon.

Please note that this price is for U.S. shipping only. If you live outside the U.S., please add 5.00USD.

Thanks for reading!

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Coming in 2011

The Sorrow King will be published as a trade paperback and digital edition through Grindhouse Press.

Dark Regions Press will be releasing a collection of my short stories.

Fill the Grand Canyon and Live Forever will be serialized on the Interwebs. This will be what I started writing for NaNoWriMo only with a middle and end and stuff. Provided it has 7 followers, there will be a Boring and Pointless, Volume Two next year.

Have a great 2011. As always, thanks for reading.
